GA.GG: The digital fitness studio for e-athletes

With GA.GG, the winners of the Northern Bavaria 2024 business plan competition have developed the world's first big data and AI-based e-learning portal for gamers.

The portal supports amateur e-athletes in improving their skills based on data by simplifying the learning process and reducing or replacing the need for a human coach. Users will find a comprehensive offering for €13.99 per month that includes statistics, videos, AI coaching, guides, professional coaches, community exchange and more.

How did you come up with your business idea?

Our original founder, Konrad Hagemes, came up with the idea back in 2017 as a combination of his experience with e-learning models and his e-sports hobby. He had tried out various e-sports learning portals, statistics and coaches himself, but hadn't found anything that combined all areas. This is how we found the unfilled gap in the market.

How does your solution work?

We automatically analyse a player's skills using the data from the game and tell him immediately via our Hexcore A.I. where his weaknesses are and what he needs to work on to improve quickly. It's comparable to a tennis coach watching his player during a match and then saying: ‘You're doing this and that wrong with your backhand. Practise it this way and that way.’ But it's not a human coach who does this, it's our data-based portal.

Where do you currently stand with your company and what will happen after the competition?

Our product is live, almost fully developed and we are already on the market. We have already generated over 2,000 paid subscriptions and are receiving very good feedback from our customers. Internationalisation in English has also already begun.

Our next major milestones are the completion of an investment round with a volume of 2 million euros, followed by international scaling in English and the expansion of the offering to include two more game titles and a desktop app.

Why did you take part in the Northern Bavaria Business Plan Competition?

We originally took part in the competition in order to properly prepare our pitch deck and build up contacts. The workshops and the feedback from the judges were - as we had hoped - extremely valuable for us. For the same reason, we would also recommend other start-ups to take part, especially if you don't yet have a lot of experience and contacts in fundraising. Winning the competition creates confidence among potential investors and acts a bit like a TÜV seal of approval for us.

How do you assess the current situation for start-ups?

As a tech startup in the gaming industry, it is currently much more difficult for us to get good financing than it was possible on the market two to three years ago. On the one hand, this is due to the current crises, the tense situation on the financial market and, on the other hand, the resulting increased caution on the part of investors. Of course, the BayStartUp network makes it easier for us to get intros and we are already in talks.
