2.5 million euros in fresh capital for Delicious Data

Series A funding for Munich-based startup that uses AI to fight food waste. Investors from the BayStartUP investor network include Bayern Kapital, GeMü Beteiligungsgesellschaft and an experienced business angel.

Delicious Data is a pioneer in the field of intelligent planning optimization for companies in the food sector. With the help of artificial intelligence, its customers can reduce avoidable food losses. With the fresh capital, the company wants to advance technological development and open up new, also international, markets.

Food waste and the associated waste of resources is one of the major problems of our time. In Germany alone, almost 2 million tons of food are disposed of every year because catering businesses can only inaccurately plan the number of meals required in advance and therefore often produce more than they need. This is where Delicious Data's software solution comes in: every day, a deep-learning algorithm evaluates a multitude of data from customer history as well as external factors such as holidays and weather, and uses this to make decisions about optimal order and production quantities. In the mass catering and bakery market, Delicious Data has already won over 1,000 locations, where it is realizing a reduction in food waste of around 30%.

Valentin Belser, Founder of Delicious Data:

We are proud and happy about the investors' trust in our solution. With this, we feel confirmed to be on the right track. With our partners, we have already been able to save 820,000 meals, which corresponds to about 1000 tons of CO2 equivalents. We now want to continue this trend by growing in the DACH region and beyond.

Dr. Carsten Rudolph, Managing Director of BayStartUP:

Impact investing is more than just a trend. In addition to a sound and scalable business model, Delicious Data makes a quantifiable contribution in terms of sustainability. This combination has also convinced investors, enabling the team to further advance their mission.
